SAT Claudio Advice 1

- not to rely so much on the enneagram but seek to be a transformative agent. Have the skill to pass along life and undo egos. May be different in each person. Each person has a gift and a mission.

- Needs to be a matrix for a profound wish to evolve. Be ashamed of oneself. We grow to the extent that we know we are sick. be awareness of sickness.

- In living, we are tired of life and it's good to commit a kind of inner suicide. At least during meditation.

- Music - is not about personality but about love. Music heals because it conveys compassion, delight, erotic love, bliss (Mozart). What makes music important to us is that it conveys spiritual reality, spiritual nourishment, especially the sense of holiness, deep adoration, enthusiasm. You become nothing before a higher power. Equivalent to meditation.

- Can one practice the virtue? Can we decide to be courageous? Do we have the freedom to be courageous intentionally. We cannot truly create in a world a virtuous state that we don't have. The virtues aren't semblance of virtues they are higher feeling and higher feelings can't be summoned intentionally. They are like grace only they have been conquered in some way. We live in a world of passions and aspire to virtue.

- We can do what we want but we cannot want what we want. What we want is given. We can act courageous. We can practice the behavior access of the virtues. Hoping that the inner feeling comes once we have the action as if preparing the ground. We can prepare the way for the virtues as if we are possessed by something that is not the higher self. We can make the outer self compatible with the inner self that we want to invite.

- If practicing the virtues is something of this nature it's like imitative magic. Act as if you're virtuous in order to become it. That may be a little disappointing that we have to earn the virtues and not perform them. Earn them is behavior therapy, changing behavior. It's a process like changing a habit.

- The expectation is that the virtues do everything for us. Learn about them and we will be transformed, no. Its hard work. Practicing the passion promises happiness but the promise of happiness of the virtues is very theoretical. There is greater satisfaction to hate than to forgive. More tempting to follow the passions.

- Preliminary to Zen meditation is the practice of just counting the breath. In Meditation proper you don't count your breath. It frees your mind to go farther into the unknown. Counting breath is letting thinking be and not be distracted by it. Breath is an attention and practice in concentration. Basic control and concentration.

- What are we ultimately looking for? Ourselves. Some people say God, it may be the same thing. The meditation is about looking within. Not so easy to look within, we are distracted by the worldly. We think when I get this I will be happy. Its true that some things make us happy, no denial of pleasure, warmth, love, conversation - many kinds of fulfillment in the world, but ultimately the more we live the more we understand that happiness depends on something inner. Our own completeness and finding the core of our being.

- The more we meditate the more we are aware of the distractions, thoughts, everything that passes engages us. Looking deeply within is difficult because there's nothing there. Its not exciting at first sight to do nothing, to look within. May be it's a process comparable to looking at the night sky after you come from the light. It takes some familiarization to be there before there's a sense of depth. Continue doing nothing with an inquiring mind. Taste what it is like, feel what it's like. What is there? Who am I behind the things I think, feel, role in the world, ultimately beyond personality and thoughts. Who am I?

- Come to an understanding that it's not a personal who. The same spirit of the who am I exercise, Paul Brenton - book. Who is asking the question? Looking into one's true nature. Into the nature of your mind. Something gets lost in translation, the naturalness gets lost. What exists independently of thinking independently. Everything is becoming and ceasing to be so where can you find being.

- Esoteric view of the world being resides in things, but when we looks for being we very easily get to understand things that are or are not don't give us a sense of being. When we disappear, transcend, what are we transcends doing. Drop the body, drop the mind and see what remains. Observe what remains.Detach from awareness. Stil. An empty mind and look into it. What is here. There is something there. There’s somebody looking, somebody's gaze. Like in a dark room where you are floating if nothing is there there's a sense of deprivation.
